MARC ALEXANDRE Bourgogne Rouge 2019
The grapes are harvested from a vineyard located a few dozen meters from a prominent first-class vineyard at the foot of the Burgundy Mountains. The soil is hard, calcareous with clay and marl. The semi-continental, cool climate contributes to a delicate and complex flavor profile.
The first aromas are of ripe prune jam and a variety of black fruits such as cherry, blackcurrant, and blueberry. Complexities such as pepper nuances, tanned leather, and mushrooms on the ground show their face, and the tannins and fruit fold in, leaving a firm, lingering finish.
Maison André Goichot is based in Beaune, Burgundy, France. It was established in 1947 by André Marcel, the father of the current owner André Marie, who was born in Marseille, to sell bulk wines. His son, André Mali, the current owner, joined the management in 1987 and greatly developed the company as a maison involved in everything from bottling to distribution. In addition to Mari, the younger generation, including his sons Arnaud, Adrian, Pierre Alexandre, and Noémie, are now involved in the company. In 2015, the company signed an exclusive distribution agreement for the wines of Domaine Les Guignots, also located on the Côte Chalonnaise. A year later, they partnered with 25 hectares of vineyards owned by Château du Clay, also in the Côte Chalonnaise, and the Maison has continued to grow in multiple directions over three generations, including bulk wine, maison, and winemaking.
