Le Libertin de Lussac 2013
Bordeaux 2013 was a year that produced a number of attractive red wines. Climatically, the skill of the producers was tested, and state-of-the-art technology and strict selection played an important role.
The average age of the vines is 30 years. Limestone, clay and loamy soils. Fruit sorting was done twice, once by machine and once by hand. Fermentation in stainless steel tanks for one week under temperature control, followed by aging on lees. The wine has a deep red color and an impressive nose of ripe berries, plums, and dried fruits. The aromas of licorice and toasted oak are subtle, creating an exquisite balance and depth on the palate. The long, lingering finish is an attractive feature of this wine.
Château de Lussac was founded in 1876 and has been owned by Madame G. Lavière Van Marderen and her husband Hervé since 2000.
The vineyards have been redesigned as well as the winemaking facilities, and today produce some of the finest wines in Saint-Emilion on clay and loamy soils. Highly skilled and meticulously managed, the vineyards produce high quality, top-quality wines. The grapes are pruned using the double Guyot method, with particular attention paid to the side that receives the morning sun, and branches are removed to ensure complete control.
