Alias Chardonnay 2021
The nose is clean and fresh, rather than the overpowering rich oak of California Chardonnay. Tropical notes of papaya and pineapple are complemented by slight vanilla oak and hazelnut notes. The acidity is soft, and the wine retains a soft, full-bodied texture without the weight of malolactic fermentation. The wine celebrates the wonderful flavors of Chardonnay after a year of enjoying the sun and sea breezes of the California coast.
This legendary brand was created by a cult wine producer as a "cult wine for the common man. As the brand name "Alias" (pseudonym) suggests, the source of the grapes and the producer are never revealed. Efficiently, reasonably, and wisely, they have produced really good wines at really good prices.
Forktail Wine Group (formerly Alcohol by Volume) was founded by the winemakers who created Bread & Butter and who had built careers at some of the most successful wine companies in the world, to do what they really do for their stakeholders and their brand. In 2014, they were the only wine company to be named to Nielsen's Top 500 Fastest Growing Companies list, and in 2016, the estate winery was named Winery of the Year.
