Macoterra 09 Vineyard with sandy soils mixed with granite. Located in the Clements Hills AVA, the terrain is undulating. It is farmed to avoid several spring-fed springs. Although it is on sandy loam, there are areas of clay soils that are moderately well drained.
Barbera is lighter in tannin and more acidic than other red wine varieties. A wine that pairs well with a variety of foods, the 2018 vintage is characterized by attractive aromas of herbs and sage that integrate with the bright red fruit notes to create a complex aromatic profile. This adds a sweet tone that complements the natural acidity characteristic of Barbera. On the palate, the bouquet takes over, blending with soft spices to create a well-balanced wine.
