pureCru RCF 2012
Cedar-cigar box notes aromatically right up front with hints of classic sweet clove from the Franc and a deep rose. On the palate the clove, cedar mingles with black fruits and a touch of pepper to form a complex spicy wine with a Bordeaux like minerality accented by currants, pomegranate and black plum. Complex and full bodied, yet bright with big shoulders and a long finish.
The fruit was punched cap fermented and barrel aged for 39 months in selected French Oak barrels then blended prior to bottling.
Special Note: This is only the third wine I have made in this blend design in my 30+ years of winemaking. For those that have followed my Reserve type Cabernet Francs and Reserve Merlots since the early 80's this will remind many. But don’t expect a grocery store Merlot or simple Cabernet Franc.
Only 200 cases were made
67% Cabernet Franc, 33% Merlot (Including fruit from the Carpenter vineyard in St. Helena).

"I had been reminiscing about a small, hands-on entity where I could do it all myself again, like I did in the beginning."
