2009 Couples & Co Chardonnay
From the vineyards of 2009 Chardonnay some of the most acclaimed grape growers in the Napa Valley, an intense wine, rich with depth, balance and length.
Appellation: Napa Valley
Composition: 100% Chardonnay (75% Old Chablis clone, 25% Old Wente Clone- originally a selection from Meursault.)
Winemaking: Barrel fermented and aged in specially made French oak Burgundy barrels for 11 months, 50% new.
There was NO malolactic fermentation, thus this wine retains it’s bright natural acidity and as a result it will age for many years.
Production: 625 cases.
Champion golfer Fred Couples and awardwinning winemaker Mitch Cosentino have teamed up to form Couples & Co, a wine brand that celebrates a shared Italian heritage and fine, limitedproduction wine. After an in-depth tasting of preliminary blends with Cosentino in 2008, Couples knew he had found the right partner. “We are producing limited production wines designed to accompany fine world cuisine. But wine that also works artistically and stands on its own.” Mitch Cosentino - Couples & Co. is a product of pureCru Napa Valley, an ultra-premium winery of limited production wines.
“Great Wine” Designation 2010 Jefferson Cup Wine Competition Awarded only four weeks after it was bottled, this distinguished competition is run by Doug Frost. Frost is a Master Sommelier and Master of Wine, one of the few in the world to hold both titles.
